Alan Wormington (1954 – 2016)

While  birding in Prince Edward County and Presqu’ile with the Eastern Ontario Birding group, I heard of the passing of one of Ontario’s foremost birding giants, Alan Wormington. Though I had never met Alan, I have a phenomenal collection of Birder’s Journal and Ontario Birds birding journals thanks to a word he put in to his friend, Dave Martin, who was looking to give these journals a loving home. Now, I cherish these journals even more. I knew of Alan’s extraordinary talent in the field and knew of the next wave of talented field birders (Josh Vandermeulen and Jeremy Benestte, to name two) benefiting greatly from his mentoring. I wish to express my deepest condolences to Alan’s family and close friends during this difficult time.
