Amherst Island Owls & Hawks

Saturday, December 15: A full day birding Amherst Island in search of Hawks, Eagles, Falcons and Owls, along with waterbirds such as loons, scoters, large numbers of Long-tailed Ducks and Aythya ducks. We will be cruising open country in search of birds of prey and walking Owl Woods in search of roosting owls. It’s possible that we may bird the entire day on Amherst. If we have time, we will bird Invista Pond and the Cataraqui Bay on our way back home after our birding on Amherst Island.

Outing notes: Please be sure to pack snacks, a warm beverage of your choice, some liquids, electrolyte mix, sunscreen, windbreaker, layered clothing, comfortable and insulated hiking shoes, and so on. Consider wearing a thermal underlayer. It’s a good idea to pack winter gloves, a scarf/neck warmer and a toque, as well. I will pack extra ‘winter gear’ in case it’s needed.

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner: Please pack a field lunch for today’s tour. For those interested, I am open to organizing a sit-down dinner in Kingston after the trip is complete.
