Tuesday, April 17: This evening we will bird from 7:30 – 11:30 PM, endeavouring to see and hear American Woodcocks and a variety of owl species, such as Long-eared, Northern Saw-whet, Barred and Great Horned. Trip specifics will be posted early on during the week of the tour.
Outing notes: Here are some ideas of what to pack and what to wear during this field outing. Waterproof footwear is recommended, and rain jacket/rain pants are also useful items to have on-hand during spring birding outings. Pack rubber boots as well, as the trails may be quite wet at this time. Please pack some snacks, plenty of water, lens cloth, lip balm, sunscreen, and favoured field guides.
Lunch & Dinner: N/A. Please pack snacks if you wish.
Activity Scale: A rating of 2/5. We will be birding mostly by car, but short walks will also be scheduled.
Meet at Dick Bell Park, SW parking area, at 7:30 PM. We will leave the parking lot at 7:40 PM. Approximate woodcock display start time will be 15-20 min after sunset. Sunset is scheduled for 7:52 PM tonight.
