Thursday, April 26: We will spend the morning cruising beautiful Lanark County countryside in search of open-country sparrows. Vesper, Savannah, Field, Song, Swamp and White-throated are likely to be in song at this time. I know some great locations for Vesper Sparrow, and I’m excited to share them with you. Incidental observations galore, including: Eastern Meadowlark, Eastern Bluebird, American Bittern, five species of swallow, Red Crossbill (possible), Blue-headed Vireo, Pine Warbler, Rusty Blackbird, and so on. Target species aside, one of the benefits of this tour is that birders will be introduced to fresh new birding roads and routes!
Outing notes: Here are some ideas of what to pack and what to wear during this field outing.
