Wednesday, April 4: Birders will be introduced to new backroads and new birding spots along a winding, countryside route that has us finishing our tour birding along the St. Lawrence River, from Ivy Lea to Brown’s Bay. An excellent collection of both wintering and spring migrant birds is expected today.
Outing notes: Here are some ideas of what to pack and what to wear during our outing. Rubber/winter boots for hiking through slushy snow/standing water, some water and snacks, and a thermos full of your preferred hot beverage. Other items to consider are hand and foot warmers, extra socks, sturdy and warm footwear, windbreaker, layered clothing, lens cloth, lip balm, sunscreen and favoured field guides.
Lunch & Dinner: Please pack a field lunch today.
Activity Scale: Out of five stars, with five being a strenuous day, this trip sits at a 2.5 out of 5 for most birders. We will be mostly birding by car, but I have also scheduled a few short hikes.
Meet at 9:00 AM at the 416 carpool lot at Bankfield/416.
Duration: 4 hours
Method of payment: Cash, e-Transfer or cheque the morning of the tour. If paying by e-Transfer, please use firstname.lastname@example.org as the recipient address; if paying by cheque, please make the cheque out to ‘Eastern Ontario Birding.’
