Spring birding in Ottawa Trip Report

Saturday, March 31, 2018

9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

A beautiful sunny day greeted a large flock of birders as they ventured out in search of spring migrants in the west end of Ottawa! We managed to find many neat birds, including Golden Eagle, Rusty Blackbird and two Greater White-fronted Geese. Many of us enjoyed FOS “first of season” bird sightings, including Bohemian Waxwing, Killdeer and Green-winged Teal to name a few. Perhaps the surprise of the day, our birding group followed up on some birders parked along the side of Sixth Line Rd. To our surprise, they were admiring a small flock of Bohemian (60) and Cedar (6) waxwings! All in all, it was yet another wonderful day in the field, birding with friends new and old.
