Birds & Orchids Trip Report

Wednesday, June 6th

8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

A nice birding route with EOB friends in search of birds and orchids in Lanark County. We birded along some beautiful backroads, where we observed/documented an excellent suite of birds. Everything from Magnolia Warbler to Indigo Bunting. We even found a Blue-headed Vireo signing from suitable breeding habitat. Our bird highlight was a stunning backcross (f2 generation) “Brewster’s” Warbler (hybrid combination between a Golden-winged and Blue-winged)! For all but one (myself; but I’ve only ever seen one before!) it was a lifer :). We finished the trip off by going to see the continuing Marbled Godwit in Kanata, a real rarity to our area. Many thanks for a great day, everyone. Please see the eBird checklists for further details…
