Trip Report: Presqu’ile Provincial Park

Sunday, August 26th

9:00 AM – 4:30 PM

What an amazing day at Presqu’ile Provincial Park! The shorebird scene was electric, with birds such as Western Sandpiper, numbers of Baird’s Sandpipers, Red Knot, Ruddy Turnstones and others showing superbly well. From Beach 3 to Owen Point (lookout’s 2-5) the shorebird scene is currently exceptional…and the habitat will continue to build and prime as strong inshore winds push “gunk” to shore and facilitate algae mat growth (great news for next weekend’s crew!) Not sure what the highlight was…but maybe the two Olive-sided Flycatchers perched side-by-side at Calf Pasture? 🙂 More details below. Good birding.
