Trip Report: Presqu’ile Provincial Park & Kingston

Saturday, September 1st to Monday, September 3rd

The word “troopers” comes to mind when thinking back on this birding weekend. EOB clients are built tough! The daytime highs, with the humidex, were: Saturday (36 Celsius); Sunday (37 Celsius); Monday (40-42 Celsius!). We managed to have a great weekend and were very careful to take in a steady flow of fluids (along with electrolytes). The landbird scene was quite quiet (given the heat, no doubt) but the shorebirds were sure showing well. We had over 7 hours of study over two days, with Sunday’s study taking the cake as shorebirds walked within 5 meters of us at times. Of the non-birding highlights were our delicious meals, but I am suppressing as to where we ate; call it an Ace up me sleave! You’ll just have to join us next year for great shorebirding and delicious meals 🙂
