Thursday, May 30: A morning spent birding along one of eastern Ontario’s famed birding roads, Canoe Lake. Along this road, we will be endeavouring to see and hear Scarlet Tanager, Indigo Bunting, Cerulean Warbler, Louisiana Waterthrush, Golden-winged Warbler and their hybrids, Blue-winged Warbler, Blackpoll Warbler, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Yellow-throated Vireo, Wood Thrush, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Red-shouldered Hawk, and much more! We will spend the morning slowly driving the road, birding by ear, and stopping whenever concentrations of birds are located. Each car will be equipped with a walkie-talkie so that everyone is in on the action!
Outing notes: Dress light and seasonal, and consider wearing quick-dry clothing, as well. Please consider packing rubber boots and rainwear, extra socks, insect repellent, mosquito head net/jacket, plenty of water, electrolyte mix (I will supply this, as well), coffee/tea, nutritious snacks, and sunscreen. It’s also a good idea to check the weather forecast for the region in which we will be birding to help you decide on what to wear for the trip!
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner: I am open to scheduling a sit-down lunch in Westport once the trip is complete! There are some delicious lunchtime options (delightful dessert items, too) in Westport 🙂
