Wednesday, June 19: A half-day trip exploring beautiful Barron Canyon Road in search of a variety of breeding birds. The bird-species variety along this road, in particular, is outstanding. We will be birding from the road, covering many habitats along the way. We should expect to see and hear a great many birds, including Mourning Warbler, Golden-winged Warbler, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Canada Warbler, Magnolia Warbler, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Blue-headed Vireo, Indigo Bunting, Veery, Swainson’s Thrush, Hermit Thrush, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Alder Flycatcher, Least Flycatcher, even Yellow-bellied Flycatcher and, of course, much more!
Outing notes: Dress light and seasonal, and consider wearing quick-dry clothing, as well. Please consider packing rubber boots and rainwear, extra socks, insect repellent, mosquito head net/jacket, plenty of water, electrolyte mix (I will supply this, as well), coffee/tea, nutritious snacks, and sunscreen. It’s also a good idea to check the weather forecast for the region in which we will be birding to help you decide on what to wear for the trip! Please pack your Ontario Parks pass if you have one, as we may venture past the Barron Canyon entrance to Algonquin Provincial Park in search of boreal breeders.
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner: I am open to organizing a sit-down brunch/lunch after our trip is complete! As one example, Irving Big Stop has delicious options, as well as famed pies for dessert…
