Wednesday, June 26: Join Jon Ruddy of Eastern Ontario Birding on a full-day birding in the Rideau Lakes region in search of sought-after breeding birds. This tour will feature extended, enjoyable and explorative hikes through mature hardwood and mixed forest. Some of our target species for the day include Red-shouldered Hawk, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Black-billed Cuckoo, Indigo Bunting, Golden-winged Warbler and its hybrids, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Yellow-throated Vireo, Eastern Towhee and much more! Clients who happen to also enjoy the study/observation of reptiles, amphibians, plants and insects will likely get a lot out of touring this area!
Outing notes: Dress light and seasonal, and consider wearing quick-dry clothing, as well. Please consider packing rubber boots and rainwear, extra socks, insect repellent, mosquito head net/jacket, plenty of water, electrolyte mix (I will supply this, as well), coffee/tea, nutritious snacks, and sunscreen. It’s also a good idea to check the weather forecast for the region in which we will be birding to help you decide on what to wear for the trip! Please pack your Ontario Parks pass if you have one. For those purchasing a day pass, the cost is approximately $15.00.
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner: Please pack a field lunch for today’s trip; we will enjoy a picnic lunch at Murphys Point Provincial Park.
