Fall birding in Ottawa

Sunday, November 11th

12:30 PM to 4:30 PM

Excellent fall birding in Ottawa this afternoon. A nice time out with birding friends, as well! We observed many interesting birds at both of our locations. Geese were showing nicely today, and we were able to tally over 20 Cackling Geese; some, drifting right next to shore. The Arboretum and its many berry trees didn’t disappoint, with many American Robins and some Cedar Waxwings, as well. We had a single Pine Grosbeak fly over just before we began our hike; I believe it’s a “leader-only bird!” We observed a roosting Barred Owl at Fletcher Garden, which was lovely to observe through the scope in particular.
