Tundra birds in Eastern Ontario

8:30 AM to 12:30 PM

A wonderful morning spent touring eastern Ontario’s “tundra” landscapes with birding friends, new & old. We observed many, in fact, most, of our targets for the day, including Lapland Longspur, Snow Bunting, Horned Lark, Pine Grosbeak, Glaucous Gull, Rough-legged Hawk and Snowy Owl. Interestingly, our numbers of Rough-legs and Snowy Owls were quite low, which perhaps suggests a low meadow vole count in the area. All of our details can be found via the checklists below…
