Spring birding in Lanark County

Saturday, May 4: A morning spent cruising scenic, sparrow-filled backroads throughout Montague Township and Lanark County. We should expect to see and hear a great collection of sparrows today, including Grasshopper Sparrow, Vesper Sparrow, Field Sparrow, Eastern Towhee and more. This region is excellent for all sorts of birds, including warblers, Upland Sandpipers, Virginia Rails, Broad-winged Hawks, Sharp-shinned Hawks, Brown Thrashers, Wilson’s Snipes, American Bitterns, swallows and more. Additionally, today is eBird’s Global Big Day! We’ll be sure to search extra carefully in an attempt to extract the very most of our birding outing: https://ebird.org/globalbigday

Outing notes: Dress in seasonal and comfortable clothing, and consider wearing layers, as well. Please consider packing rubber boots (preferably an insulated pair), windbreaker, rainwear, extra socks, coffee/tea, snacks, water, and sunscreen. It’s also a good idea to check the weather forecast for the region in which we will be birding to help you decide on what to wear for the trip!

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner: After the tour is wrapped up, I would be happy to arrange a sit-down lunch at the Old Mill at Ashton 🙂
