Amherst Island & Kingston

Sunday, March 10: Today, we will search for Hawks, Eagles, Falcons and Owls. The meadow voles “outbreak” on Amherst Island has attracted hundreds of birds of prey to the island. We will be cruising open country as well as hike Owl Woods in search of roosting owls.  It’s possible that we may bird the entire day on Amherst. If we have time, we will bird Invista Pond and the Cataraqui Bay on our way back home after our birding on Amherst Island.

Outing notes: Dress in seasonal and comfortable clothing, and consider wearing layers, as well. Please consider packing winter boots, perhaps even rubber boots, ice grippers (if you own them), hand & foot warmers, extra socks, coffee/tea, snacks, water, and sunscreen. It’s also a good idea to check the weather forecast for the region in which we will be birding to help you decide on what to wear for the trip!

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner: Please pack a field lunch for today’s tour. For those interested, I am open to organizing a sit-down dinner in Kingston after the trip is complete.
