Saturday, March 7: Today, we will be birding Wolfe Island in search of a wide assortment of Birds of Prey! In the open fields, we may encounter a Gyrfalcon, Snowy Owls, Rough-legged Hawks, Red-tailed Hawks, Northern Harriers, Bald Eagles and more. We will also search for Short-eared Owls as they liven from the roost sites later in the day and begin to hunt mice and voles. Before we head home, we will visit Invista Lagoon and Cataraqui Bay in search of all sorts of wintering waterfowl.
Outing notes: It’s a good idea to check the weather forecast for the region in which we will be birding to help you decide on what to wear for the trip. Check “Kingston” the day before, for the latest weather update. Please be sure to pack gloves and a toque, snacks, hand and foot warmers, a warm beverage of your choice, some liquids, sunscreen, and please wear winter boots.
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner: Please pack snacks and drinks today. We will enjoy a sit-down lunch while birding on Wolfe Island.
