Sat/Sun, March 14-15: A wintry, weekend photography tour along Algonquin Park’s Highway 60 corridor! This weekend, we will slowly hike a variety of trails along the Highway 60 corridor, searching for such boreal classics as the Canada Jay, Boreal Chickadee, Spruce Grouse, Black-backed Woodpecker and more. We may also see winter finches, such as Evening Grosbeak, White-winged and Red crossbills and Pine Siskins. A road or trailside moose is a possibility throughout the weekend, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled, as well as gather the latest information by following up with other park visitors. This tour is best-suited to those who enjoy nature photography and I will endeavour to set clients up with the best possible opportunities to photograph birds and mammals-of-interest throughout the weekend 🙂
Outing notes: Please note that for non-Ontario Parks pass holders, there is a cost of $17.00 to access the park for the day. Please be sure to check the weather forecast for Whitney, Ontario several days out from the trip to help in your decision about what clothing to wear. Please be sure to pack gloves and a toque, snacks, hand and foot warmers, a warm beverage of your choice, some liquids, sunscreen, and please wear winter boots.
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner: We will have our sit-down lunch at the Visitor Centre in the early afternoon, on Saturday. Later that same day, we will enjoy a group dinner at the Mad Musher restaurant. On Sunday morning, we will have a group breakfast in Whitney, at the gas station. Lunch will once again be at the Visitor Centre, later on, in the afternoon.
