Owl Prowl

Thursday, March 26: It’s Owl Prowl season! Tonight, we will endeavour to hear Barred, Great Horned, Northern Saw-whet and even Long-eared Owl. We will first aim to see and hear American Woodcocks displaying in the Shirleys Bay area. Then, we will head south, past Richmond, and conduct an owl prowl throughout known owl haunts. Playback will be used to entice owls into vocalizing. Please note that flash photography is prohibited on this outing.

Outing notes: Here are some ideas of what to pack and what to wear during this field outing. Flashlight, rubber boots, waterproof footwear, and also your rain jacket/rain pants just in case it rains. Please pack some snacks, a warm beverage, water, lens cloth, lip balm, and favoured field guides.
