Amherst Island & Kingston

Saturday, March 28: Today we will enjoy some excellent spring birding at Amherst Island, as well as Kingston environs! We should expect to see numbers of Birds of Prey as they continue their northbound journey, as well as newly-arrived spring migrants. Migrant Snowy Owls may be sighted on ice floes, so we’ll be sure to scan Lake Ontario with our scopes. After we bird Amherst Island, we will head to Invista Pond & Cataraqui Bay for duck study!

Outing notes: It’s a good idea to check the weather forecast for the region in which we will be birding to help you decide on what to wear for the trip. Check “Bath” the day before, for the latest weather update. Please be sure to pack gloves and a toque, snacks, hand and foot warmers, a warm beverage of your choice, some liquids, sunscreen, and please wear winter boots.

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner: Please pack a cooler full of food and drink today. We will enjoy our field lunch while birding on Amherst Island.
