Peak fall birding at Presqu’ile Provincial Park

Saturday, September 11: Peak shorebird and songbird migration occurs between the fourth week of August and the fourth week of September. During this time, peak numbers of shorebirds, warblers, vireos, flycatchers, grosbeaks, tanagers and cuckoos occur. 20 species of warbler per outing are possible at this time, along with countless species of shorebirds! Hold onto your hats and ready your binoculars as you join EOB for some peak fall migration birdwatching at one of the top birding sites in all of eastern Ontario!

Outing notes: Please dress for the season, and be sure to take a look at the forecast for the region in which we will be birding a few days out from the tour. Please pack a cooler with the food and drink of your choice. Pack your optical and photographic equipment, as well as your field guides should you wish to consult them during the tour.  Pack a fold-up stool for comfort while photographing and studying shorebirds on the beach. Although they are not mandatory, I recommend packing a mask for whenever we might be birding in tight spaces. Please note that a day fee applies for those without annual or seasonal Ontario Parks passes. Please note that as of this summer you must book a day pass to the park using Ontario Parks’ electronic registration system on their website.

eBird Checklists: I will take care of all of the checklists for the day, and share them with you when the tour is complete. Your eBird statistics will automatically update when you accept the checklist. If you are not an eBird user, that is perfectly fine; I will email the checklists when I arrive home. You’ll be able to browse through the sightings list without having to be an eBird user.

Washrooms: I will do my best to schedule a washroom break every 90-120 minutes. However, clients can, at any time, use the great outdoors as a rest stop, too!

Meet-up time and location: 9:00 a.m. at the front entrance of Presqu’ile Provincial Park.

Duration: 8 hours.

Cost: $125 per person (HST-included). I do not have a preference when it comes to payment type; I accept e-transfer, cash and cheque.

Registration is now closed.
