Midsummer birding at Napanee Limestone Plain IBA & Camden Lake Area

Saturday, July 13: Today, we will seek to find family groups of grassland birds, with a primary focus on finding Loggerhead Shrikes! Lil’ Loggerheads will be begging for food, following their parents as they forage in the grasslands. Upland Sandpipers, Eastern Meadowlarks, various species of sparrows will also be searched for. We will move on to marshland habitats in the afternoon, looking for family groups of Black Terns, kestrels, bitterns, herons, gallinules, flycatchers, warblers, sparrows and more!

Guarantees: With birds, there are never guarantees, but the good news is you’ll have a professional guide at the helm with many years of experience searching for and identifying birds. As always, I will endeavour to make the most of each tour, and the philosophy I encourage is to “take whatever the day brings.” 🙂

What to pack/What to know: Please dress for the season, and be sure to take a look at the forecast for the region in which we will be birding a few days out from the tour. Please pack a cooler with the food and drink of your choice, your optical and photographic equipment, as well as your field guides should you wish to consult them during the tour. Please also pack your spotting scope, if you have one, along with some insect repellent and sunscreen, as well.
