Pine Grove Forest Trip Report

Thursday, May 24

8:30 AM to 12:30 PM

A fun morning with birding friends searching for the breeding birds (and late migrants) of Pine Grove forest. Just like last year’s trip, this site is a great site to test one’s birding ears! Singing birds like Canada Warbler, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Magnolia Warbler, Wood Thrush and Veery were exciting to listen to. High Road provided some superb views of Eastern Bluebird and Bobolink, as well as a heard-only Black-billed Cuckoo. One of our A-goal targets was Mourning Warbler, but it seems to me as though it’s my new personal nemesis bird. We visited two known breeding sites and quietly stood-about. No dice!
