Thursday, August 30: A morning outing spent enjoying the great variety of fall migrants typically observed at this site. With the low river level this fall, mudflats are present, meaning many shorebird species are possible this morning. We should also expect a nice assortment of ducks, herons, warblers, vireos, flycatchers and more.
Outing notes: To access the dyke at Shirleys Bay, you must be an OFNC member. You must also be on the OFNC membership list which was given to the DND. Please be sure to pack snacks, plenty of liquids, electrolyte mix, sunscreen, insect repellent, comfortable and breathable clothing, comfortable hiking shoes, and so on. Note that I will be packing electrolyte mix for the group should you wish to sprinkle some into your water bottle.
