Waterfowl along the St. Lawrence

Sunday, October 21: This morning we will bird the waterways and some of the woodlots throughout the Upper Canada Region of the St. Lawrence River. We will bird sites such as Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary, Crysler Park Marina, Ault Island, Farran Bay Park, Long Sault Parkway, Hoople Creek and Guindon Park. The waterfowl scene will likely be quite good today, with a superb number of dabbling ducks expected by this date. Along the Long Sault Parkway, we should expect an excellent study of teal, both species of wigeon, Gadwall, black ducks, Mallards and much more. In the deeper waters, large numbers of Common Loons along with diving ducks and grebes, are likely to be observed.

Outing notes: Please be sure to pack snacks, plenty of liquids, electrolyte mix, sunscreen, insect repellent, comfortable and breathable clothing, comfortable hiking shoes, and so on. Note that I will be packing electrolyte mix for the group should you wish to sprinkle some into your water bottle.
