Sunday, May 10, 2015 – Mud Lake

“Spring has Sprung! Part II”

Start & End Time: 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM (4 hours)

Outing Location: Ottawa: Mud Lake & Britannia Conservation Area

Meeting Location: Cassels Street

Overview, Targets, & Topics: The migrant landbird numbers will be continuing to rise at this point.  With warm weather and S winds the days preceding the event and the forecasted rainfall today, birding could be red hot. We will walk Mud Lake and the adjacent, famed “ridge” in search of interesting migrants and returning local species. Increasing warbler and other landbird diversity is expected.  Warblers such as: Ovenbird, Yellow-rumped, Palm, Pine, Yellow, Nashville, Tennessee, Magnolia, Northern Waterthush, Black-throated Blue, and Black-throated Green are possible today along with plenty of migrant sparrows and other landbirds. Plenty to look at and listen to this morning. A primer for our 6 hour-long Landbird Classic taking place the following Thursday!
