Rare Birds

Welcome to Eastern Ontario Birding’s Rare Birds page.

Over the years, I’ve been blessed to discover some rare bird species in my travels. Below are the rare birds I’ve come across, from 2022 to present day, while guiding or scouting. In terms of my birding style, I don’t seek out rarities per se; however, anytime I’m in the field, I try my best to keep my focus up and bird each bird carefully. This style of birding has subsequently produced a nice array of rare finds over the years. The list is confined to the eastern Ontario birding area, which is quite different to southern Ontario in terms of bird volume/number of rarities per year.
