Overview, Targets, & Topics: Prince Edward Point is teeming with migrant birds at this time of year. This site is an important spring and fall stopover for countless landbird and waterfowl species. We will survey three specific areas throughout the Wildlife Area: Ducks Dive, Traverse Woods, and the Point. Both warbler diversity and numbers have the potential to be outstanding this time of year. Warblers, Empidonax flycatchers, a variety of Catharus thrushes, northern (Philadelphia) and southern (Yellow-throated) vireos, a variety of sparrow species including Lincoln’s Sparrow and Eastern Towhee, Scarlet Tanagers, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, Indigo Buntings, waterfowl, shorebirds, Birds of Prey….anything goes at this fantastic Eastern Ontario migration hotspot. We will plan for a short lunch break and possibly a visit to the Black River Cheese Factory. Time permitting, we may head to Outlet Beach and Sandbanks PP.
