Following birds’ glances

Birds are very alert animals. They very often see and hear other birds before you do. This is especially true of bird groups which happen to be favoured items on another birdies take-out menu! For songbirds, this could mean a Sharp-shinned Hawk; for shorebirds, this could mean a Peregrine Falcon; for geese, this could mean a Golden Eagle. If you’re out birding and observe a flock of birds tilting their heads in synchronicity as they collectively eye the sky, be sure to follow their glance. A new bird for your day-list, in the form of a Bird of Prey, often awaits your detection!

Have a great weekend,
Jon
